Imchin

Imchin - a river in the east of Sakhalin Island . It flows through the territory of the Nogliki urban district of the Sakhalin region , in the lower reaches of the Nogliki settlement.

The length of the river is 59 km, the catchment area is 214 km² [2] . It takes the source north of the Central Mountain [3] , flows in the meridional direction until it flows into Tym on the right [4] .

The name comes from the Nivkh word, which means “the river through which one jumps and hits”. This is due to the fact that one bank of the river is higher than the other, and the animals, fleeing from the hunters, tried to jump from a low bank to a high one, but often broke down, where they were beaten up by beaters [5] .
