Good Start [2] - the Pacific Bay on the west coast of Iturup Island . Refers to the territory of the Kuril region of the Sakhalin region of Russia .

It is bounded on the north by the Atsonopuri peninsula [3] , and on the south by the Jaw peninsula [4] . The shores of the bay are high, except for the low-lying sandy northern part of the eastern shore. The depths at the entrance to the bay reach 700 m, to the top of the bay, first sharply, then gradually decrease. Bottom soil - silty sand, sometimes pebbles, gravel and stone, sometimes covered with algae.
The water area of the gulf is ice-bound from the end of February until mid-March [5] .
The first bay was described by the crew of the ships "Juno" and "Avos" in 1807 and named after the expulsion of the Japanese from the island [6] .
