“ Rockabye ” is a song by British electronic band Clean Bandit , recorded with the participation of Jamaican singer Sean Paul and English singer Anne-Marie as the lead vocalist. The song was released on October 21, 2016 as the second single from the band's second studio album, What Is Love? and is the first song of the group released without Neil Amin-Smith [1] [2] . The song tells about the difficulties of single mothers and its name refers to the English lullaby " Rock-a-bye Baby ", similar to the Russian "Bai-baiushki-bai". “Rockabye” is also included in Ann-Marie's Speak Your Mind debut album.

The song topped the UK chart on Christmas week December 23, 2016. This is the first song in the history of the chart that continued to top the chart for Christmas after six-week No. 1 [3] . In total, the song spent 9 weeks at the top, and also topped the charts in more than 20 other countries.
History
“Rockabye” was written by Jack Patterson and Norwegian singer Ina Wroldsen . Wroldlen wrote a text about her son, why "it sounds so true, so emotional and especially," says Grace Chatto [2] . The premiere of the song and video took place on October 21, 2016, just two days after Neil Amin-Smith left the band. Speaking to Digital Spy , Chatto said, “We have been waiting for a long, long time when we can work with Sean Paul. It finally happened - just a dream! Anne-Marie tells the story, and we love her voice. For the first time we heard her vocals on one of the Rudimental tracks, over the past couple of years we met just at millions of festivals. It was so nice to collaborate. ” [2]
Music video
The video clip was released simultaneously with the song on October 21, 2016 and lasts 4 minutes 13 seconds [4] . Part of it was rented at Cap Sa Sal in Bagur , Spain , and another at The George Tavern in London . According to the plot, a single mother has to dance half-dance in a bar to feed her child. The plot is based on the real story of a dancer, which the musicians met in Italy [5] . As of June 2018, the video has over 1.8 billion views on YouTube [6] , making it the 30th most watched video on the site.
Commercial Success
On October 28, 2016, Rockabye debuted at number 7 on the UK single chart . The next week, she climbed to 3rd place, and in the third week topped the chart, ahead of the song “ Shout Out to My Ex ” Little Mix . Thus, Clean Bandit for the second time topped this chart, before that they were able to do this with the song “ Rather Be ”. Subsequently, the single spent nine consecutive weeks in first place, for the first time for the group it became the first in Australia [7] , and also topped the charts of Austria [8] , Finland [9] , Germany [10] , Ireland [11] , New Zealand [12] and Switzerland [13] . On December 23, 2016, having been leading for six weeks, Rockabye became No. 1 for Christmas in 2016 [14] , thereby becoming the first No. 1 song for Christmas, which was not the song of the winner of The X Factor , a charity single or the song “ Mad World ”, as it was in 2003 [15] . The single's sales amounted to 57,631 copies, becoming the best-selling Christmas song No. 1, which came out due to sales from streaming [14] .
In the US, “Rockabye” debuted at number 100 on the Billboard Hot 100 on December 24, 2016, becoming the first Clean Bandit song on this chart since 2014. Since then, she has reached the top 10, having reached its peak at line 9, which is the group’s highest position on this chart, ahead of Rather Be with its best result at line 10 [16] . For Anne-Marie, the song became the first on this chart [17] . In Hot Dance Airplay, the song reached No. 1 on February 18, 2017, thereby becoming the second single No. 1 for Clean Bandit and Sean Paul and the first single for Anne-Marie on this chart [18] .
