History

The house was erected by the architect N.L. Benoit to host services related to the preparation of receptions in the palace. After the October Revolution, the building housed the International Hotel. After serious destruction during the Great Patriotic War, the building was restored as the House of Soviets, it contained the Petrodvorets District Council of People's Deputies, the Petrodvorets District Committee of the CPSU, the Petrodvorets District Committee of the Komsomol. The modern administration of the district is located there. [2]

Architecture

The building has a plan in the form of the letter P. It is located on a high ground floor (intended for pantries, soldiers' kitchens and for accommodating kitchen workers). On the first floor there was a "Large expendable kitchen", and on the second - a dormitory for liveried servants, waiters and storage of spare linen. In the internal layout of the upper floors, the main place is occupied by wide corridors with rooms located on both sides. Fire safety requirements made fireproof ceilings and several exits from the building. [2]

The windows of the basement are decorated with fan lock stones. The windows of the first floor are of the same type, high, with a semicircular finish, decorated with rich platbands, also with fan-shaped castle stones. The windows of the second floor have a simple rectangular shape with simple platbands. The south facade, facing St. Petersburg Avenue , is dissected by wide shoulder blades. The corners of the building are rusticated . The façade is diversified by lashing , stepwise increasing from the corners of the building to the central part, ending with a pediment. The western facade, which faces the Upper Park, is similarly constructed, with two symmetrical accents highlighted by a “boardwalk” rust and pediments. [2]
