Biography

He was born in 1846 in the Serboluzhitsky village of Toureu in a peasant family. From 1862 to 1869 he studied at the gymnasium in Görlitz . Then he studied Lutheran theology in Halle (1869), Leipzig (1870-1871), Breslau (1872). From 1872 to 1873, he was an assistant preacher in the village of Vukranczyca and in 1874 in the Polish village of Sverczuv. From 1875 to 1902 - rector of the Lutheran community in Vukranchitsy. In 1897 he joined the cultural and educational organization " Mother of Serbo-Luga ". In 1902 he retired for health reasons. He lived in Budishin, then in 1910 he moved to the village of Khristav, where he died in 1931.

In 1904, in Budyshyn, he published his first work , Das „königliche“ Spiel oder Schach. Eine Trilogie nach Wesen, Wert und Zweck des Spiels als theoretisch-praktische Charakteristik desselben in triglotten Distichen (lateinisch, deutsch und wendisch) . " Since this year, he regularly published his poetic works in various Serbo-Luzhitsky periodicals. Since 1908, at the proposal of Ota Vichaza, he began to engage in translations from the ancient Greek language. He translated Homer into the Upper Luzhsky language “Odyssey” (published in 1921) and “Iliad” (published in 1922).
