Nikolai Zakharovich Tryndyk - Honored Artist of Kabardino-Balkaria , member of the Union of Artists of Russia , painter (1916-1987).
Complicated and unpredictable events of the twentieth century - centuries of revolutions, wars, collectivization, perestroika fell on the years of life and work of Nikolai Zakharovich. Much has changed - the political system, social structures, the human and creative destinies of people of art were formed. It is simply impossible to think about the artist’s work in isolation from the processes that took place in Kabardino-Balkaria over the years.
I leaf through catalogs of exhibitions, look at archival materials, there is an opportunity to feel the very first steps of artists, truly enthusiasts of the creation of the Organizing Committee to unite creative intelligentsia into a single organization. Basically, these were artists, by the will of fate, who arrived in Kabardino-Balkaria at the very beginning of the 20th century. The name of Nikolai Zakharovich Tryndyk in this circle occupies an important place.
I quote a few lines from the artist’s biography “... I was born in Ukraine in the village of Chetvertinovka, Vinnytsia region, in a peasant family on December 19, 1916. He graduated from a four-year rural school. In 1932 he arrived in Makeevka, worked as a delivery man, at the post office, entered the evening work school. Two years later, it was closed, he entered the Voroshilovograd art school. In 1937 I had to leave my fourth year - I was ill, I had no money ... "
The young man comes to Nalchik and stays forever. Kabardino-Balkaria is building a socialist society. There is an acute problem of strengthening the ties of art with the life of the people. Traveling around the republic, introducing people working in production, in the field, on pastures to life, allows the artist to get closer to modern, popular life, to feel the severity of problems - political and social. The first exhibitions are held, an Organizing Committee is created to unite artists into a single creative organization. This organizational process is indicated by archival materials 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1941.
These were the first exhibitions, mainly dedicated to serious historical dates. But there are also picturesque canvases in which the world of people and events are reflected, familiar, close to everyone, felt and creatively meaningful. They evoked a reciprocal feeling of involvement of the widest masses in fact, event, and history. Exhibitions are shown in villages, on pastures, in regional centers and are very popular.
From those very first exhibitions of the thirties and forties, the work of Nikolai Zakharovich Tryndyk, becoming more complicated in time, gaining serious professional significance, did not leave the exhibition space of Kabardino-Balkaria during almost the entire twentieth century (already in the catalog of the art exhibition of 1938, the young artist Nikolai Tryndyk represented by 20 works). Participating in the processes of formation and development of the artistic culture of the mountainous region, touching the spiritual culture of the peoples of Kabardino-Balkaria, woven by centuries-old traditions, the very way of life of the people, the artist forms his civic and creative position, and Kabardino-Balkaria becomes the main theme.
The exhibitions held are an indicator of the professional and creative growing up of not only individual authors, but also the state of art of Kabardino-Balkaria over time. I think one should dwell on some of them, the most significant ones. One of them is the exhibition of 1951, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the autonomy of the Kabardian ASSSR. The exhibition has 40 works by 10 authors. Among the participants: N.N. Gusachenko, M.A. Vannakh, N.M. Tretyakov, N.Z. Tryndyk. The artists ’appeal to a given topic is perceived quite naturally - this is the theme of leaders, the pathos of creation, pompous portraits, and next to it are small works painted from nature - landscapes, the fallen corners of our city, our mountainous region - the artist’s delight before the miracle and grandeur of nature. This allowed the authors to realize themselves in a creative way. NZ Tryndyk at this exhibition is represented by two picturesque canvases: “The Village of Tegenekli” and “Spring Plowing”. And here is another, very prestigious exhibition of 1957 - the republic celebrates the 400th anniversary of the unification of Kabarda with Russia. The exposition has over one hundred works by 29 authors. Nikolai Zakharovich presents picturesque canvases: “Driving flocks”, “Morning in the field”, “Winter” (they were purchased at the Republican Museum of the KBR).
The exhibition of 1961, timed to the 22nd Congress of the CPSU, is also noteworthy. The exhibition opened in the newly built House of Artists. I quote material from art critic V. Gorchakov: “... Two main features characterize the artists' creative report for 1961. The first is the creation of large works, significant on the subject, and the second is the active appeal to life and participation in it. Instead of endless landscapes, often with a touch of “beauty” - a thematic picture, a portrait. The formation of a thematic picture is especially obvious at the exhibition. A sort of gradual “crystallization” of thematic canvases from works of a landscape genre takes place ... ”N.Z. Tryndyk presented the paintings“ Terskolsky Peak ”and“ Nalchik Industrial ”at this exhibition. Maybe one of the main features of Nikolai Zakharovich’s work is the ability to feel the special rhythm of life, which has become a plan, to introduce it into the compositional fabric of the mountain landscape, giving the canvas an epic sound. “City in the mountains”, “Molybdenum mine”, “Cheget-Kara Bashi”.
The art of Kabardino-Balkaria of the twentieth century until the 80s combined the work of artists of different styles and directions. It was included in serious expositions of exhibitions of the South of Russia, Russian, all-Union, becoming a serious facet of the art of the North Caucasus, Russian art culture. Starting from those first exhibitions 30–40 and before passing away from life (1987), throughout all the designated decades, N.Z. Tryndyk was an integral and organic part of the artistic and organizational space of the artistic culture of Kabardino-Balkaria. His work is marked by Certificates of Honor of high government structures, he becomes an Honored Artist of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (1967). He is repeatedly elected a member of the board of the Union of Artists of the Republic, is a member of the first Organizing Committee, created in 1938, a member of the Board of the Union of Soviet Artists of the Kabardian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, which is a branch of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1956), is elected to the exhibition "South of Russia", chairman of the painting and youth sections of the Union of Artists of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. The anniversary art exhibition “At the Turn of the Century”, exhibited in three exhibition halls of our city, allowed us to trace the process of not only formation, but also the current state of the art culture of Kabardino-Balkaria. The exposition of the Republican Museum of Fine Arts includes the work of older artists, representing for decades the art of Kabardino-Balkaria, at the most prestigious levels of the South of Russia, the generation passed through ideological disasters that reflected in their works the pre-war years and the difficulties of the war era. After all, many entered the "art" having experienced the hardships of deprivation and the joy of victory. The exposition of the exhibition is mainly the work of artists who have died. They left us, living today, with sincere feelings about the fate of their people in an organic connection with time, reflecting it from a creative point of view. The exposition of the exhibition “At the Turn of the Century”, the work of Nikolai Zakharovich Tryndyk, who fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, occupies a serious place - the works created in different years are displayed. Among the best are the canvases “Memory” of 1973, “Balkark Girl” of 1966, “Shepherds” of 1974, “On Cheget” 1967. “For haymaking. Family ”1967
And at another exhibition, I think, it is worth stopping. This is an exhibition project of the “Masters of Realism”. In July 2014, this exhibition was successfully held at the Kabardino-Balkarian Museum of Fine Arts. A. L. Tkachenko. The exhibition includes works by 29 authors created in the years 50-60 from the museum, the collection of the Union of Artists and family gatherings. Reflecting time, they became a beautiful, harmonious page of the national art culture of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, introducing our spiritual values into the multifaceted all-Russian cultural space. Large canvases by Nikolai Zakharovich, such as Autumn in the Chegem Gorge, became one of the components of this exhibition. This exhibition attracted the attention of not only art lovers in Kabardino-Balkaria, but also exhibited in museums in other republics of the North Caucasus.
Nikolai Zakharovich Tryndyk is a realist artist. The basis of his work is Kabardino-Balkaria, seen from a position of great respect for the Worker, admiration for his spiritual culture. She became the second Motherland for the artist. And the work of the artist Nikolai Zakharovich Tryndyk has become a harmonious part of the artistic culture of both Kabardino-Balkaria and the whole of Russia.
