Geography
Located on the banks of the Starooskolsky reservoir . The village is 167 km from the regional center - Kursk , 37 km from the regional center - Gorshechnoye village. Distance to Stary Oskol - 14 km.
History
The village of Baranovo was founded as a single-yard settlement on the Oskol River. It was founded before 1710. Probably, by the name of one of the landowners of the Yezdotsky settlement or the village of Pravorot [2] .
On September 19, 1871, the temple of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God was founded in Baranovo. The date of completion of the construction and consecration of the temple was not preserved.
In 1892, the village of Baranovo belonged to the Baranovo volost of the Stary Oskol district . But by the end of the century the number of volosts was reduced, and the village of Baranovo was attributed to the Znamenskaya volost.
In connection with the policy pursued by the Soviet government , in 1940 the temple of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God was closed.
In 1943, the village of Baranovo was liberated from German troops .
In 1999, the restoration of the temple began, which continues to this day. On July 9, 2009, the church was re-consecrated by the Archbishop of Kursk and Rylsky German [3] .
In the village of Baranovo there is a source of the Holy Blessed Old Lady Matrona of Moscow . It was consecrated on October 12, 2010.
