Biography
Born June 26, 1948 in with. Bestuzhev Arzamas district of Gorky region. Father - Kolobov Alexey Ivanovich, a mechanical engineer, died in 1975. Mother - Kolobova (Lisenkova) Nina Fedorovna, a teacher of mathematics, died in 1997.
In 1966, O. A. Kolobov, having graduated from secondary school No. 1 of Arzamas with the teaching of a number of subjects in English, entered the first year of the correspondence department of the Department of History and Philology of Gorky State University named after N. I. Lobachevsky (GGU) and at the same time began to work as a teacher of history and geography of an eight-year school in with. Kostylikha, Arzamas district, Gorky region . While studying at the university, he was awarded the medal of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR "For the best scientific student work" [2] .
After graduating from the GSU in 1972 and receiving a diploma of higher education (specialty - history; specialization - general history; teacher of history and social studies; silver medal for the diploma work), O. A. Kolobov was assigned to the department of general history of the historical and philological faculty of GSU as an assistant, but three months after working in a new capacity for him, he was called up for active service in the ranks of the Soviet army . On January 1, 1976, O. A. Kolobov took up the duties of a senior lecturer at the Department of General History of the History and Philology Faculty of the GSU, being responsible for giving a general course of lectures on the recent history of Asia and Africa and a number of special courses on international relations of the 20th century. In 1978, he was elected by competition to the post of assistant professor of the Department of Modern and Contemporary History of Western Europe and North America at the Faculty of History and Philology of GSU.
From August 1, 1979 to May 10, 1980, O. A. Kolobov worked in the United States of America ( Washington , DC ) as a participant in the program of interstate Soviet-American scientific exchange [2] .
Upon returning from abroad, he was elected head of the newly formed Department of the History of the Countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America at the History and Philology Department of the GSU and led this teaching and research unit, unique to classical universities in Russia, for the entire term of office.
In the fall of 1985, O. A. Kolobov was again seconded by the USSR Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education in the USA for scientific work in the history of diplomacy at the University of Texas and the Presidential Johnson Memorial Library ( Austin , Texas ).
Returning to his homeland, he headed the department of modern and recent history of the countries of Europe and North America in a composition combined with the department of the history of the countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Until June 1997, this educational and scientific unit of the Faculty of History was called the “Department of Modern and Contemporary History and Modern International Relations,” and since June 1997, it has been acting as the Department of International Relations of the Department of International Relations of Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky (UNN).
In November 1987, O. A. Kolobov defended his doctoral dissertation "The mechanism for shaping the policy of the United States of America towards Israel and the Arab countries in 1947-1985." From June 1987 to February 2002, O. A. Kolobov worked as dean of the Faculty of History (IF), and from February 2002 to April 2012, O. A. Kolobov acted as dean of the Faculty of International Relations (FMO) and was also director ( from 1997 to 2012) of the Institute for Strategic Studies (ISI NNGU).
