Zholaushi Turdugulov

Born on July 15, 1950, born in the village of Alekseevka East Kazakhstan region, Kazakh nationality.

In 1977 he graduated from the Almaty Art College named after N.V. Gogol with honors as a production designer of folk and professional theaters.

From 1977 to 1985 he worked in the Markakol district department of culture as an artist of the director of the folk theater, combining other amateur works (actor, props artist, make-up artist, instrumental soloist, vocalist, etc.)

From 1985 to 1992, he worked as a restoration artist in the Kazmuzrestavigation in Almaty.

In 1992, he graduated from the Kazakh State Pedagogical University named after Abai with a degree in “Teacher of Fine Arts, Drawing and Labor”.

From 1993 to the present, Turdugulov J.A. has been actively engaged in teaching activities in the department of creative specialties of the Institute of Arts, Culture and Sports of KazNPU named after Abay. He teaches subjects: “Composition”, “Designing”, “Workshops of choice”, “Artistic processing of wood”, “Traditional materials”, “Production training”, “Practical training”. The main innovative directions are carried out through the connection of traditional arts with a modern search for creativity, the best traditions of art of different times are renewed and developed.

In parallel with pedagogical work, Zh. A. Turdugulov is actively engaged in creative and scientific activities. He is one of the well-known applied artists of Kazakhstan. A special place in his work is the manufacture and recreation of folk musical instruments, the traditional and artistic development of appearance, and the acoustic qualities of the instrument. He performed a huge number of folk musical instruments. He is the author of many scientific and methodological publications on the applied arts.

Famous dombra instrumentalists and singers of a traditional song play instruments made by Turdugulov. Passing on the secrets of making dombra and kobyz to his students, Zholaushi educates his students to better understand all the subtleties of mastery. His students are winners of the Republican and international competitions "Ukilі dombyra", "Dana Kobyz", "Shabyt", "Orteke", "Sheber" and others.

In 1980, he became a laureate of the First All-Union Competition of Patriotic Songs dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Great Victory.

In 1989 he was awarded an Honorary Diploma of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR and the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Cultural Workers for active creative work.

In 1992, he became a laureate of the First International Competition for the Production of the Kazakh Folk Musical Instrument “Ukіlі dombyra”, taking 3rd place

In 1994, became the laureate of the Second Republican contest "Ukilі dombyra", taking 1st place.

In 1996, he won the Grand Prix of the Third Republican contest “Ukilі dombyra”, winning the first special prize “Golden Dombyra”.

In June 1998, in the Austrian city of Mollne, at the III International Congress of Vargan Music, an exposition of Kazakh musical instruments included drug trafficking made by Turdugulov Zholaushi, which was highly appreciated by international experts.

Turdugulov Zholaushi, who made kylkobyz, distinguished by manufacturing technology and originality of ornaments, sound, was awarded the Grand Prix and a special prize “Altyn Kobyz”.
