Player Career
Club career
Dario Pereira began his football career in the Uruguayan club “ Nacional ”. On October 17, 1977, he became a player in the Brazilian Sao Paulo , who paid 5 million cruzeiro for his transition.
In São Paulo, his bond with another central defender Oscar is often called one of the best lines of defense in the history of the club [1] . In total for the "Sao Paulo" Pereira from 1977 to 1988 spent 451 matches and scored 38 goals. After the completion of the 1988 Sao Paulo State Championship , the Uruguayan moved to Brazilian Flamengo , where he played only 11 matches. In early 1989, at the age of 32, he became a football player in the Brazilian Palmeiras . The following year, Pereira moved to the Japanese club Matsushita Electronic , where he ended his playing career.
Career in the national team
On June 25, 1975, at the age of 18, Dario Pereira made his debut for the national team of Uruguay [2] in the away match with the team of Chile [3] .
Pereira was included in the national team for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico , where he played in two matches of his team in the tournament: group stage with Scotland [4] and 1/8 final with Argentina [5] .
Coaching career
Dario Pereira was the assistant to the head coach of Sao Paulo when he was appointed as the head coach of the team in 1997, replacing Murisi Ramallo . Under his leadership, “Sao Paulo” corrected a bad tournament situation in the São Paulo state championship, but the team eventually became only the vice-champion of the state, and in the Brazilian championship took only 13th place. In 1998, Pereira was replaced by Nelsinho Baptista .
On October 3, 1998, he became the fifth head coach of Coritiba . Under his leadership, the team scored six wins and tied five times in 13 matches. In late 1998, he headed Atletico Mineiro , leading him in 1999 to victory in the Minas Gerais State Championship.
