The color is dark - black, black-brown or grayish-ash with contrasting, red or orange spots on the hind wing.
Tropical butterflies without a clear change of generations during the year, as a result, at the same time, all stages of butterfly development can be observed in nature - from egg to imago . Most species are trophically associated with kirkazons .
Previously, this taxon was considered at the rank of a subgenus in the genus Atrophaneura , but after revision in the early 2000s, it was upgraded to the level of an independent genus [1]
