Appearance and structureThe total length of representatives of this genus ranges from 50 to 80 cm. The head is of moderate size. The muzzle is short. The eyes are small. The mouth is not very wide. The lower jaw is long. Long and flexible antennae located on the upper jaw. The body is elongated. The dorsal fin is absent. Anal fin extended. In abdominal fins up to 8 rays. The caudal fin is highly bifurcated.
Coloring light silver.
LifestylePelagic fish. They are found only in large rivers with a fast current, but they also enter flooded floodplain forests. Active mainly at night. Hiding at the bottom during the day. They feed on fish and shrimp.
DistributionDistributed in the Mekong basin and on the islands of Kalimantan and Sumatra.
