Description
The cathedral, which is simultaneously a parish church for the believers of the UGCC living in the city of Munich and its environs. Built in the 1970s in the avant-garde style of constructivism , it is notable for its originality [1] .
The temple complex is a regular quadrangle, which emphasizes the characteristic style of geometry, rigor with a clear form and solidity of the building. The altar forms a triple apse, which, according to the rules, like the entire temple complex, is oriented to the east. To the left and right of the main entrance to the temple are bas-reliefs dedicated to the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir and the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Princess Olga , which are revered by the Ukrainian people . The narthex of the church is small in size, it contains a memorial table with the text of information about the establishment of the temple [1] .
Despite the strict laconicism of the exterior, the temple is distinguished by rich interior decoration, grandeur and beauty, a large interior space. The walls of the religious building are decorated with frescoes and murals of the icon painter Svyatoslav Gordynsky . The interior of the temple is complemented by stained-glass windows that create a sacred atmosphere of holiness and, thanks to the rich spectrum of colors and the play of sunlight - a feeling of elation and reverence [1] .
A special place is the altar or sanctuary, which amazes with its magnificence and beauty. Artfully decorated with mosaics with the image of the Intercession of the Virgin Mary in the central apse, reminds us of the continuity of the transfer of faith and the continuity of the modern Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church with the Vladimir Baptism of Rus-Ukraine in unity with the apostolic throne in Rome [1] .
