Description

Female

Large butterflies with colorful coloring. Fore wing length 30–42 mm. The wings of the male are black with large white spots in the middle of the wing. Female wings - orange with a black top of the fore wing, bearing a white band and spots - mimics the Danidae , in particular Danaus chrysippus . Along the edge of the wing there are 3 rows of white dots. The hind wings of the male on the underside carry a wide white band that has a black spot at the front edge. The spots on the wings are wide above, on the front wing there is a large oval spot - in the middle of the wing and a small oval spot - at the apex; on the hind wing there is a large rounded spot. The central cell of the front wing is closed. The eyes are bare. Labial palps covered with hairs. The central cell on the hind wings can be either closed or not. On the fore wings, the veins R1, R2 do not branch and originate from the central cell. R3, R4, R5 have a common trunk, which also starts from the central cell. Veins R1 and R2 go to the costal margin of the fore wing, R3 extends to the apex, and R4, R5 [2] to the outer edge of the wing.
