Lovers from Hasanlu

Hassanlu's lovers are human skeletons found by a group of archaeologists from the University of Pennsylvania headed by Robert Dyson in 1972 during excavations of the ancient city of Teppa Hassanlu, located near the present city of Negede in western Azerbaijan in northwestern Iran . During excavations, it was found that Hasanlu was destroyed by fire.

The burial age is about 800 BC. e.

The human skeletons of “Hassanlu's Lovers” were found in a garbage pit. The only feature is a stone slab under the head of the skeleton on the left side. The find is called "Hassanlu's Lovers" or "A 2800 Years Long Kiss."

Two skeletons are buried next to each other, the skeleton on the left extends the right hand to touch the face of the lover on the right. They both hug each other and have clear signs of serious injury that caused their death. Experts believe that they died during the destruction of the Teppe Hasanlu citadel.

The skeleton on the right lies on its back. Dental studies have shown that he was a young man, possibly 19-22 years old. The pelvis belongs to a man . Apparently, his health was good, without any obvious evidence of treatment for intravital injuries.

The second skeleton lies on the left side. His age is up to 30-35 years. By bones, sex is determined ambiguously, but scientists are inclined to believe that he was also a man. ^[one]

Isotope studies showed that their diet was varied, consisting of wheat and barley, meat of sheep and goats, and that “Hassanlu's Lovers” were born and raised in this area.
