Zholymbetsky gold deposit is a gold deposit in the Shortandy district [1] of the Akmola region of Kazakhstan , 65 km northeast of Astana and 54 km east of the village of Shortandy [1] (according to other sources, 100 km north of Astana and 100 km south of the city of Stepnogorsk [2] ). Discovered in 1932 in the wake of ancient ore mining, industrial development has been ongoing since 1933. The field is located at the intersection of the Stepnyakovsky (Aksuisky) meridional, Bogdanovsky northeastern and Zholymbet-Boshchekulsky latitudinal deep faults [1] , in the deposits of the lower and middle Ordovician cut through by deep faults and interrupted by Silurian intrusions . Ores of industrial importance are confined to intrusive rocks and are concentrated at a depth of 1600-1700 m. Gold is represented by three morphogenetic types: 1) dispersed microscopic gold in pyrites, 2) vein native gold, 3) gold in metasomatic quartz veins. The gold content in the ore is extremely uneven, an average of 6.6 g / t. The main ore minerals are pyrite , pyrrhotite , chalcopyrite , galena , and native gold. Associated minerals: marcasite , sphalerite , arsenopyrite , bismuthin , scheelite , molybdenite , bornite and others. There are impurities of indium , cadmium , thallium [3] . The main components of the ore: silica (up to 70%), iron (up to 3%), gold (up to 110 g / t), copper, lead and arsenic (fractions of a percent) [1] .
