Content
History
The prototype self-propelled mortar BTR-70M1 was made in the spring of 2015 at the Kharkov plant of special vehicles and subsequently transferred to the National Guard of Ukraine [2] .
In June 2015, after an incident with shooting in Mukachevo , an NSU used an armored vehicle in an operation against militants of the Right Sector in Transcarpathia [2] .
In January 2016, in the HZSM advertising video, it was mentioned about the possibility of producing an additional quantity of BTR-70M1 for state power structures of Ukraine and foreign customers [2] .
Description
BTR-70M1 is a converted armored personnel carrier BTR-70 Soviet-made [1] .
The BTR-70M1 crew consists of five people (commander of the car, driver, machine gunner, gunner and loader), it is possible to transport two paratroopers [1] .
Machine-gun armament in the tower is preserved, an 82-mm battalion mortar arr. 1937 year [1] . To fire from a mortar, a double-leaf hatch is installed in the roof of the airborne compartment, the wings of which can be fixed with stops in an upright position. Mortar mines horizontally stacked on the rack on the port and starboard side. The mortar base plate is fixed outside the hull (which allows the mortar to be used separately from the armored car) [2] .
In addition, during the conversion of the BTR-70 to the BTR-70M1 for easier start-up of the engines in the cold season, the base heater ПЖБ-300В was replaced with a diesel pre-heater 14TS-10 [1] .
