Euphydryas Scudder , 1872

Description

Butterflies are medium sized. The wings above are usually brightly colored. Head with eyes covered with protruding hairs. The palps are also covered with hairs. Antennas with capitate mace. Fore wings with a curved outer edge, the edge of the hind wings rounded [1] .

The genus is isolated on the basis of differences in the structure of the copulative apparatus of males. The sternal part of the IX abdominal segment is simple without outgrowth (saccus). Valves with short denticles along the outer edge. Edeagus without an ostial keel with a straight or rounded apex [2] .
