History
The town of Zaprudnya has been known since the 17th century. Then, on the site of the modern village, the village Morevskoye, located on the Kunovka River, is mentioned [2] . The first mention of the name Zaprudnaya refers to the XVIII century; it probably comes from a small dam that already existed on Kunovka at that time. In the XVIII century, Zaprudnaya belonged to the estate located in the village of Gary, which later became part of Zaprudny. In the scribal books of 1627, the village of Gary is mentioned as the patrimony of the patriarchal stolnik N. F. Leontiev, granted to him in 1610 by Tsar Vasily Shuisky ; later the village changed owners several times; in 1782 it became the property of Prince Mikhail Shcherbatov . In the middle of the 19th century, the village of Gary and the village of Zaprudnaya belonged to the famous physician Karl Janisch . In 1852, the population of the village of Gary was 156 people, the villages of Zaprudnaya - 168 people [2] .
In 1860, a small glass factory was opened by the peasant of the village of Zaprudnaya Faddem Timofeev in the village of Gary; during the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, it changed several owners, however, the profile of the only enterprise in the village remained unchanged - glass production continued to expand. The development of the enterprise was also facilitated by the opening in 1900 at 15 versts from the village of Verbilki railway station on the Moscow-Savelovo line [3] . Thanks to the efforts of one of the co-owners of the factory, I. I. Kitaygorodtsev, in 1914, the company for the first time in Russia launched the production of electric lamp glass. Already in Soviet times, the Zaprudnensky glass enterprise became one of the leaders in its industry; in 1924, the plant produced 35 thousand flasks for electric lamps per day [4] . Decree of the Presidium of the Moscow Oblast Executive Committee No. 10 of November 10, 1932 (protocol No. 63) formed the working village of Zaprudnya in the territory of Taldomsky district, which included the settlement at the Zaprudnensky glass factory, the villages of Zaprudnya and Gary part 1 and part 2, and its administrative submission - the village of Khokhlovka and the settlement at the Verbilovsky sawmill. Garsky and Zaprudnyansky village councils were abolished. The formation of the working village of Zaprudnya was approved by the decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of December 10, 1932. In the 1930s, a highway was made in connection with the passage of the Moscow Canal highway to Zaprudnya near the western outskirts of the village. In the 1950s, a railway platform was opened in Zaprudn on the line to the then-built city of Dubna [3] .
During the Great Patriotic War , Tomsk Electric Lamp Plant was organized on the basis of equipment and personnel of the glass factory evacuated to Tomsk.
The Zaprudnensky Glass Factory has long been one of the largest enterprises in the Moscow Region, which led to the intensive development of the village in the 1950s and 1970s (multi-apartment buildings, a hospital, schools, kindergartens were built). Among the products of the enterprise were various electric lamps, picture tubes [6] .
From January 1, 2006 to June 8, 2018, Zaprudnya formed the eponymous municipality with the status of an urban settlement as its only settlement. [5] [7] The urban area was 5020 ha [8] or 50.2 km² .
The local government bodies of the municipality until June 8, 2018 were: [9]
- Council of Deputies - a representative body of a city settlement;
- the head of the city settlement;
- Administration of a city settlement - executive-administrative body of a city settlement
- control and counting commission - the control body of a city settlement;
The Council of Deputies consisted of 15 deputies elected by the population of a city settlement in municipal elections on the basis of equal universal and direct suffrage by secret ballot in multi-member districts [10] . Since 2008, Sumina Vera Vasilievna has been Chairman of the Council of Deputies [11]
The head of the city settlement Zaprudnya was elected at the municipal elections by citizens residing in the territory of the settlement [10] . The head of the urban settlement forms and heads the administration of the urban settlement [10] . On September 10, 2017, Staroverov Dmitry Alekseevich was re-elected the head of the city settlement [12] .
In early September 2016, with the goal of friendly, good-neighborly, business and cultural cooperation, the twinning agreement between the urban settlement of Zaprudnya and the city of Radovish was signed in the Macedonian city of Radovish [13] .

In the late 1980s, three nine-story houses were built. On the outskirts of the village - mostly private residential development [3] . The main city highways are the Zaprudnya-Verbilki motorway crossing the settlement in the latitudinal direction (Pervomaiskaya Street, passing in the eastern part of Zaprudnya to Sovetskaya Street); Lenin Street parallel to Pervomaiskaya Street [33] . At the moment, several residential houses have been built in Zaprudn to relocate residents from the emergency housing stock [37] . The first such house was built in 2014 on Kalinin Street, and the rest of the houses are not far from the now abandoned camp “Koster” (Priozernaya Street), where the construction of a new microdistrict continues. The housing stock in 2010 was 204.3 thousand m², the average housing provision was 16.9 m² / person. [33] . 61.6% of the housing stock was represented by medium- and low-rise buildings; 26.8% - by individual development [38] . The level of motorization was 200 cars per 1,000 inhabitants [39] .
