Batista, Jose

José Alberto Batista González ( Spanish: José Alberto Batista González ; March 6, 1962 , Colonia del Sacramento ) is a Uruguayan footballer who played as a defender and coach. Known as the owner of the fastest removal in the final stages of the World Championships : at 53 seconds in a group match against Scotland at the 1986 “world Cup” he received a red card from French referee Joel Qinho [1] [2] [3] .

Career

Club

He began his professional career at Cerro . Later he moved to Penarol , in which he began to be called up for the national team . In 1985, he became a player in the Argentinean “ Deportivo Espanyol ”, where over nine seasons he played more than 300 matches in the Argentinean Super League . In 1995 he returned to Uruguay, where he played for the Rampla Juniors , but a year later he returned to Argentina and signed a contract with the Gimnasia and Esgrima club. From 1998 to 1999 he played for Deportivo Espanyol. The next two seasons he played in the Argentine Argentino de Quilmes . He completed his football career in 2000, playing for Quilmes .

International

The debut for the national team of Uruguay took place on September 19, 1984 in a match against the national team of Peru . He was included in the composition for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, where he played in all three matches of the group stage. In the latter, against the Scottish national team , he was removed by the French judge Joel Qinho for 52 seconds for a foul over Gordon Stracan [2] . In total, Batista played 14 matches for the national team and scored 1 goal [4] .
