The British Hockey League ( English British Hockey League ) - was the main British hockey league from 1982 to 1996, until it was replaced by the British Hockey Super League and the British National League . After the liquidation, the league itself was divided into two - the Inter-City League, consisting of teams from the south of England, and the Northern League, consisting of teams from the north of England and Scotland.
In 1983 there was one Premier Division in the league. In 1986, in connection with the expansion, another division appeared - the First Division ( English Division One ). In 1987, a third division appeared, called the First English Division ( English Division One ). The first English division broke away from the league in 1992.
