History
Until 2015, the canton consisted of the communes of Antrain , Bazouge-la-Peruz , La Fontenelle , Marsier-Raoul , Noyail-sous-Bazouges , Rome , Saint-Remy-du-Plaine , Saint-Ouen-la-Rouyry , Tramblay , Chauvinier .
As a result of the reform of 2015 [1], the composition of the canton was changed. It includes the communes of the abolished cantons of Saint-Bris-en-Cogles and Saint-Aubin-d'Aubignes .
Since January 1, 2017, the composition of the canton has changed. The communes Saint-Bris-en-Cogles and Saint-Étienne-en-Cologue formed a new commune, Man-Roche ; Cogles , La Celles -en-Cogles and Montur communes are a new commune of Le Port du Cole .

Policy
In the 2017 presidential election, residents of the canton gave Emmanuel Macron 25.6% of votes in the 1st round against 21.0% from Marine Le Pen , 13.6% from Jean-Luc Melenchon and 17.9 from Francois Fillon ; in the 2nd round, the canton was defeated by Macron, who received 67.4% of the vote. (2012 Round 1: Francois Hollande - 29.3%, Nicolas Sarkozy - 25.8%, Marine Le Pen - 16.5%; Round 2: Hollande - 54.1%).
Since 2015, the canton in the Council of the Department Illes and Wilen is represented by the mayor of Le Porte du Coglet, Emar de Guvion Saint-Cyr ( Republicans ) and the vice-mayor of the commune Saint-Remy du Plaine, Letion Menyan (Laëtitia Meignan) ( Different Rights ).
