The presidential election in Colombia was held on May 3, 1942. [1] Both candidates represented the Liberal Party . President Alfonso Lopez Pumarejo opposed the liberal self-nominated Carlos Arango Veles. Alfonso Lopez Pumarejo received 58.6% of the vote and again became president of Colombia. [2] He was sworn in on August 7, 1942.
