Gates of the Arctic [1] ( eng. Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve , translated by Arctic Gate [2] ) - US National Park . It is one of the largest national parks in Alaska , located on the border of the Arctic, completely beyond the Arctic Circle. The park includes most of the Brooks mountain range, with an area of 39,460 km² approximately equal to the area of Switzerland . Part of the Alanta River flows through the park [3] .

December 1, 1978 received the status of a national monument. Later - December 2, 1980 - became a national park. Most of the park is a conservation area, 29 322 km² of which, together with the adjoining wildlife zone, Noack forms the largest US wildlife area.
