The Assumption Church is a parish church of the Murom diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church , located in the city of Murom .

History
The church was first mentioned in the Murom Prescription of Murom in 1574. According to sources, on the Assumption Street was "the court of the lord of Ryazan" [1] . In the Scribe Book of 1636/1637 the temple says: “Yes, behind the scree in Assumption Street, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Cretzky wood with a porch, two chapels of the great miracle worker Nicholas and another aisle of the holy women of the myrrh bearers ... another warm church Epiphany of the Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ of the Woods of Uletzky. And the churches and in the churches are the entire church structure of the Moscow guests of Smirnov and Tretyak Mikitin’s children of Sudovschikov. ” Other information about these churches was not preserved until the end of the 18th century.
In 1790, at the expense of the Murom merchant D.I. Likhonin, instead of two wooden churches, a stone church with two thrones was built: the main one in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in the aisle - in honor of the great martyr Dimitry Solunsky , the heavenly patron of the merchant, who financed the construction.
In 1829, the refectory of the Assumption Church was rebuilt, and in 1835 a stone bell tower was built.
In 1923, the church was closed, and the existing chapel was abolished in 1940.
In 1997, the temple was returned to the Vladimir-Suzdal diocese .
