Mikhail Samuilovich Belomlinsky (born July 27, 1934 ) is a Russian illustrator. Father of the writer Yulia Belomlinskaya .

He graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Repin ( 1960 ). He worked, to a large extent, with children's literature, since 1971 he was the main artist of the magazine "Bonfire" . In 1989 , he emigrated to the United States , worked as art director of the newspaper New Russian Word .
The most famous work of Belomlinsky are illustrations for the Soviet edition of John Ronald Roel Tolkien's fairy tale “The Hobbit” translated by N. Rakhmanova ( 1976 ), famous for, in particular, the conscious portrait resemblance of Bilbo Baggins with actor Evgeny Leonov , who approvingly approached the artist’s work [1] . In addition, in different years, Belomlinsky illustrated the books of Mark Twain “The Yankees at the Court of King Arthur ”, Gerald Darrell's “ Talking Package ”, “Don Quixote” and others. Belomlinsky is also known for his many cartoons.
