It was founded in Skopje in 1952 as a communications squadron of the 3rd military region ( Serbhoron . Eskadrila za vezu 3. vojne oblasti / Eskadrila for transporting 3. military personnel of the region ).

History

The squadron was formed on February 1, 1952, according to the order of December 17, 1951. Subordinated to the 3rd military district. It was equipped with various training and communication aircraft. Transformed into a communications Squadron of the 3rd Aviation Command ( Serbhoron . Eskadrila za vezu 3. vojne oblasti / Escadril for transporting 3. military personnel of the region ) in 1959 [1] .

By April 1961, according to the Drvar plan for the reorganization of the Yugoslav Air Force, a new code system was introduced, as a result of which the squadron became known as the 891st aviation communications squadron [2] . She was armed with Ikarus Kurir communications aircraft of Yugoslav production. In May 1961, it was included in the 81st auxiliary aviation regiment, after its disbandment in 1964, it was transferred to the 1st aviation corps, and then briefly in the 198th fighter-bomber aviation regiment in 1965. Until the dissolution of June 8, 1968, the squadron was subsequently part of the 107th auxiliary aviation regiment.

By decree of January 9, 1980, the 891st Helicopter Division ( Serbohorv. 891. helikoptersko odeljenje / 891. Helikopters clothes ) was formed at the Skopski-Petrovac airdrome , which became part of the 3rd Army as an air reconnaissance and communications unit. He was armed with Soko SA.341 Gazelle helicopters, produced in Yugoslavia under license. Since March 1, 1985, the 891st reconnaissance and communications helicopter squadron was called. In 1988, after the reorganization of the field armies, the squadron included two squads from the airfields of Nish and Golubovtsi (respectively, the former 893rd and 898th similar squadrons).

It was disbanded in 1992 after the withdrawal of the Yugoslav People’s Army from the territory of the Republic of Macedonia [3] .
