Galaction and Epistimos (III century, Phenicia ) - Christian saints, martyrs and ascetics . Memorial Day: November 18th New Style.
Life
According to legend, the life of Galaction and Epistima was Eutolmius, a slave to the father-in-law of Galaction [1] . The text of the life is included in the "Mineas" of Simeon Metaphrastus [2] and in the " Menology " of Vasily II the Great . Later, this instructive story became part of the Old Russian Prologue on November 5; and in the XVI century he was included in the " Great Minei-Chetii " of Metropolitan Makarios [3] . Some authors draw a connection between this life and the novel " Leucippus and Clitofont " [3] , written by Achilles Tacius in the 2nd or 3rd century AD.
