History
After the decision to transfer the Admiralty to Kronstadt by Admiral S.K. Greig, a project was drawn up for deploying officer and attendant outbuildings along the entire Admiralty from its northern side. It was planned to build 12 officers' outbuildings, which had parade facades on Ekaterininskaya and Bolshaya Ekaterininskaya streets. The building was built in 1785-1788. designed by architect M. N. Vetoshnikov as the 3rd officer wing. [2]
When the outbuilding complex was rebuilt in the middle of the XIX century, the third officer's wing was rebuilt in 1856-1858. significantly stronger than others and expanded to accommodate the Maritime Officer Assembly and the Maritime Library , designed by architect R.I. Kuzmin . In 1863-1864 added an extension from the courtyard. The new building of the Maritime Assembly was completed and consecrated on November 20, 1858. [2] [3]
After the October Revolution, the assembly was transformed into the House of Navy Officers. [3] It existed until 2011, when it was closed. The building was transferred in 2012 to the Baltic Fleet Theater , which was organized in the same building in 1930, but after returning to Kronstadt in 1992, it did not have permanent premises. Architecture
Initially, the building was of the same type with the first-fourth officer's outbuildings, two-story, in 15 axes along the main facade. During the restructuring, the third floor was added, as well as two-storey extensions in five axes. The facade was decorated. A rich interior decoration was added, in particular, a two-light dance hall with choirs and a grand staircase were created. The interiors also preserve polychrome tiled stoves. [2] [5]
