History
The foundation of the current oncology center was laid by the creation of the Azerbaijan State Research Institute of X-ray Radiology in 1941 by decree of the Council of People’s Commissars and the People’s Commissariat of Health of the Azerbaijan SSR of December 10, 1940.
In 1963, by order of the Ministry of Health of the Azerbaijan SSR, the institute was renamed the Research Institute of Radiology , Radiology and Oncology . And the next year 2 more buildings of the institute were commissioned. In 1988, the institute was reorganized, as a result of which it became known as the Republican Oncological Scientific Center and thereby became the main research institution of Azerbaijan. In October 1995, the Republican Oncology Scientific Center began to be called its current name - the National Center of Oncology (NCO) under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan [1] .
In 2006, a Mobile Diagnostic Complex was created as part of the NCO, which includes ultrasound, radiography, endoscopy, a clinical, biochemical and morphological laboratory and specialized doctors. The main goal of the mobile diagnostic complex is screening, early detection of pre-tumor and tumor diseases in the population of remote regions of the country with their subsequent referral to a hospital of the appropriate profile.
Since 2012, the Children's Oncology Clinic has been operating at the National Center for Oncology [2] .
