The name is given for the village of Sokolsky , on the lands of which the village was formed. The name is also associated with the city of Sokolsky (once a county town) that existed on this site.
In 1898, the Belgians, relying on the help of the Lipetsk leader of the nobility of the landowner Kozhin, founded the Tambov Anonymous Mining and Metallurgical Society. It expanded ore production, a metallurgical plant was built (now the Svobodny Sokol plant ). On the territory of the plant there were barracks in which the workers lived. Away from the plant, comfortable houses were built for Belgian and Russian specialists, which gave rise to the Sokolsky village. It consisted of three quasi-streets, called Lower, Middle and Upper Colonies (with a high degree of probability these are the current streets of Gazin , Smyslov and Konstantinova Square ).
The construction of the village of the Free Falcon plant took place according to its own master plan before the war . Here already by the 1950s there was a complete social and cultural complex and the largest cultural center in the city. It compactly housed a school, hospital, and stadium. There were engineering networks and landscaping.
