Marcel ( Louis de Funes ) and Francis ( Maurice Biro ) give the impression of respectable citizens. Francis has a family and pretends to be a senior employee of the company. Marcel seems to be either a journalist or a doctor. In fact, they are robbers, and their only source of income is the safes of wealthy citizens. Marcel is a bear cub with 10 years of experience and can crack any safe. Planning another robbery, he begins to strike at the cashier of a knitwear store and learns from her that the store owner keeps the proceeds in his home safe, and only takes the contents to the bank on Fridays. The next day, friends go to work. But before they could open the door, they were spotted by a neighbor, a young lady named Lucille. In exchange for silence, she wished to be present at the robbery. Marcel easily manages to break into the safe, but Francis in a hurry leaves a bag of money in the apartment. Only after leaving the house, they notice their mistake and decide to return for the money. But by this time, the landlord returned home, and the unlucky robbers had to pass themselves off as police officers in order to get back into the house. They managed to trick their victim and take the money, but when they left the apartment, they heard the steps of the real policemen who arrived on call. Then Lucille invited them to hide in her apartment, and in return wanted to participate in the next robbery. It was not so easy to refuse her, because she turned out to be an old friend of Francis, whom he and his wife met on vacation, and which he had already forgotten about. In any case, her name was known to her, and friends had to agree to her terms again.

Lucille decided to plan the next business herself and invited them to rob her aunt, in whose house were canvases of old masters worth tens of millions of francs. The Trinity enters the house, but the aunt notices them and decides that the niece and her friends simply decided to visit her. After such a fiasco, Marcel and Francis break up with Lucille and decide to start an honest life. However, Lucille is not going to give up. She goes to Francis's house and pretends to come to visit her old friends with whom she was on vacation. Francis’s wife doesn’t really believe in this and suspects her husband of infidelity, but she doesn’t give a look. Returning home and finding Lucille there, Frances realizes that she will not leave them alone, and she and Marcel will again have to take up the old. She has already prepared another plan - the robbery of a large department store. She approaches the organization of the robbery more thoroughly than last time, and with the help of her acquaintance a notary forges a recommendation for Marcel, with whom he takes a managerial position in a department store.

On the day of the robbery, Francis tells his wife that he must go on a business trip and go to the department store. At night, accomplices manage to neutralize security, break into the department store safe and take out a full suitcase of money. But the notary, who forged the recommendation, decides to take their prey from them and for this purpose informs Francis' wife that her husband was in an accident and she should urgently go to him. Thus, he abducts her and demands a ransom for her. Robbers have to give up money in order to free it. However, at the last moment it turns out that the money stolen by them is nothing more than handbills in the form of banknotes, on the reverse side of which there is a discount announcement. This becomes the last straw, and friends finally decide to break with their criminal past. But there it was: Francis’s wife, having guessed what her husband was actually doing, invited them to continue their activities, but under her leadership. She already has a plan for the next robbery ...
