- February 6 - Carl Maria von Weber gives a farewell concert in Darmstadt in the palace of Ludwig I of Hesse . Lack of funds forces the young composer to leave his teacher abbot Vogler and go on a long concert tour. [one]
- March 17 - The 98th Psalm for the choir Giacomo Meyerbeer is first performed in Berlin. [one]
