Being an active member of the Greek diaspora , he was the president of the parish council of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England, the trustee of the Greek College of the Holy Cross , a member of the Leadership 100 charitable foundation of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America , which supports the organizations of the American Archdiocese in the promotion and development of Greek Orthodoxy and Hellenism in the United States ( was established in 1984 under the auspices of Archbishop Jacob ), as well as a member of the Order of St. Andrew (deputatos Archon of the Ecumenical Patria Hata ). Archbishop Jacob was awarded the St. Paul Medal, the highest award of the American Archbishopric.
Biography
Born in a Greek family.
He graduated from Boston University with bachelor's and master's degrees. He had a certificate of completion of urban planning courses at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also attended Harvard Business School.
He served in the US Army . He took part in the Pacific War Theater of World War II . He was awarded the Bronze Star .
In 1969, being a fan and then a professional baseball coach, he became the owner of , and later vice president of the Boston Red Sox (1971-1974) and general manager of Atlanta Braves (March September 1976).
He owned the development company Alevizos Group.
He taught business administration at Boston University School of Management.
He died on August 1, 2005 at the age of 85.
Personal life
For 59 years, he was married to Kula Yatropoulos, in a marriage with whom he had children.
