Kiev Land Bank was one of ten joint-stock land banks of the Russian Empire that arose in 1871 - 1873 . during the credit reform, which began after the abolition of serfdom by Emperor Alexander II in 1861 [2] and lasted until the revolutionary upheavals of 1917. In addition to Kiev, they also included Don , Kharkov, Poltava, St. Petersburg -Tula, Moscow, Bessarabian-Tauride , Nizhny Novgorod-Samara, Vilensky and Yaroslavl-Kostroma land banks. The stock capital of these financial institutions, providing short-term and long-term loans secured by both land and urban real estate, as of July 1, 1898 amounted to 51716520 rubles .. [3]

In accordance with the Charter highly approved in June 1872 , the Bank carried out both long-term (up to 66 years and 2 months - on the security of land and up to 38 years and 4 months - on the security of urban real estate), and short-term (up to 3 years) lending [4] in the territories belonging to the Kiev , Chernihiv , Podolsk and Volyn provinces. The founders of the Kiev Land Bank were the landowner of the Kiev and Podolsk provinces, the shtalmeister of the court of His Imperial Majesty Prince Mikhail Viktorovich Kochubei ; the landowner of the Kiev and Poltava provinces, the clerk of the court of His Imperial Majesty Petr Dmitrievich Seletsky ; landowners of the Kiev province Prince Kudashev and Ya. V. Tarnovsky, landowner of the Podolsk province N.K. Vinogradsky and a number of other persons. [5]

Since 1886 , the head office of the Kiev Land Bank has been located in the building on Institutskaya Street, 7, originally owned by the first Kiev Stock Exchange, after stockbrokers moved to Khreshchatyk . Currently, in this house - a monument of architecture of the work of Georgy Pavlovich Shleifer , there is a club of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine . [6]
