Leonid Alexandrovich Mitropolsky (1904-1989) - Soviet athlete ( shot put , discus throw ), champion and medalist of USSR championships, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1943), Honored Trainer of the USSR (1960). He played for the Dynamo club ( Moscow ).

Biography
Member of the Great Patriotic War , scout of the Separate motorized rifle brigade for special purposes of the NKVD of the USSR . He was awarded the orders of the Great Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Red Star , medals "For Courage" , "Partisan of the Patriotic War" of the 1st degree, "For the Defense of Moscow" and others.
In 1949 he switched to coaching. He was the author and commentator of the films of the strongest throwers of the world. He assisted in preparation for the Olympic champions Romuald Klim , Anatoly Bondarchuk , Yuri Sedykh and other famous athletes. He was a coach of the USSR national team at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome .
