The son of a doctor Yudel Markusovich (Julius Markovich) Blumberg. He graduated from Petrishule (1930) and the institute in Leningrad. In 1941, after the outbreak of war, he joined the militia and participated in the hostilities, engineer-captain.
In November 1944 he was sent to VNII-108 (later VNIRTI, TsNIRTI named after academician A.I. Berg), was appointed head of Laboratory No. 19 (ground-based radars).
He worked on the creation of spaceborne electronic intelligence devices. For the creation and successful launch of electronic monitoring equipment, “KUST-40” was awarded the Order of Lenin .
While working at VNIRTI, he defended his doctoral dissertation, Doctor of Technical Sciences. Member of the Academic Council of the Institute.
