The Eugene Psalter , an old Russian parchment manuscript of the 11th century, is a partially preserved text of the Psalms with interpretations of the pseudo- Athanasius of Alexandria [1] . The manuscript was named after the first owner - the Archbishop of Novgorod Evgeny Bolkhovitinov , who discovered it in the St. George Monastery [2] .

The volume of the preserved part of the manuscript is 20 sheets, two of which are now stored in the collection of the Academy of Sciences Library (code 4.5.7), and the main part is in the Russian National Library (code Pogod. 9) [3] .

Paleographic description
The manuscript parchment is thin, the sheets are torn in many places along the lines of the ruler. On some sheets, letters written on the reverse side shine through parchment [4] .
The main part, stored in the Russian National Library, has a cardboard binding of the 19th century; together with parchment, 2 paper sheets were bound together to make up the part of the manuscript located in the Library of the Academy of Sciences [3] .
The manuscript is written in a beautiful clear charter, the text is arranged in two columns. Capital letters at the beginning of each verse of the psalms are taken out of the text on the field. In addition to them, in the manuscript there are large initials at the beginning of the psalm or song. There are 7 of them in the manuscript, and 3 of them are verbal (Ⰲ - l. 6a, Ⱆ - l. 18a and Ⰻ - l. 20a). The ornament of glagolic letters is close to the initials and headpieces of the Zograph Gospel [5] .
Language Features
A number of linguistic features of the Eugene Psalter suggest that the original, from which it was copied in Russia, is of Western Bulgarian origin. This is indicated in particular by the frequent spelling of e instead of b with a small number of cases with o instead of b , the spelling of ѣko , the presence of the form of a simple aorist [6] [2] .
Manuscript Studies
The first description of the Eugene Psalter was prepared by A. Kh. Vostokov [7] . In addition, in the XIX century the manuscript was described by V. I. Sreznevsky [8] . The main language features are described in the work of N. P. Grinkova [9] .
