The ceremony was attended by Hero of the Soviet Union pilot Nikolai Timofeevich Antoshkin . It is assumed that this monument will be the first on the future alley of hero pilots in the Khodynsky field [4] .

The total height of the monument is 4.8 m, weight - 2 tons [2] . A bronze sculpture 3.3 m high is mounted on a pedestal 1.5 m high [5] . Vodopyanov is depicted in flight uniform, with a card in his left hand. The monument stands in the center of a circular three-stage platform, paved with granite slabs.

The monument recalls that pilot Mikhail Vodopyanov was the first in the world to land on ice at the North Pole . The pedestal is made in the form of a block of ice. On the map in the pilot’s left hand is the route of his flight to the North Pole. The round base, in the center of which a monument is installed, symbolizes the globe and the North Pole [5] .
