Biography
Since 1907 she lived in the city of Narva . After the outbreak of World War I, she and her family were evacuated deep into Russia, to Siberia . There she entered a secondary school in Omsk , in 1921 she returned to Estonia.
From 1923 to 1935 she studied painting at the Pallas Art School in Tartu under the direction of Nikolai Triyk , and then the art of engraving (student of Ado Wabbe ). In 1931 she married the artist Kaarel Liimanda and shared the socialist ideas of her husband. In 1937, she and her husband traveled to Paris .
After Estonia joined the USSR , she actively participated in the reorganization of Estonian art life. She taught at the Tartu Art School.
After the start of World War II, she was evacuated in Yaroslav, her husband died during the evacuation. Bach was one of the initiators of the creation of the Union of Artists of Yaroslavl, one of the founders of the Union of Artists of the Estonian SSR. She led this Union.
Since 1946, she lived in Tallinn . She was buried in Tallinn Forest Cemetery .
Creativity
One of the first Estonian engravers, Aino Bach demonstrated technical virtuosity, which helped expand the expressive possibilities of engraving with the intallo .
The author of portraits , genre compositions and illustrations marked by loving attention to a man: “Woman with a Guitar” (1936), “Mother with a Child” and “Woman in a Mirror” ( aquatint , 1937), “Sleeping Child”, “Little Marie” (both - dry needle , “Worker”, 1935) portrait of Kersti Merilaas . She performed a number of works by intaglio printing and monotyping . She also practiced metal engraving, etching and color monotype, often mixing several techniques in the same work, in particular, a metal dot and aquatint .
She participated in exhibitions in Riga and Kaunas (1937), Rome , Budapest and Antwerp (1939).
