Unrest

Pomeranian Church of the Resurrection of Christ and the Protection of the Virgin in Tokmakov Lane (Moscow).

Anxiety is one of the two main directions of the Russian Old Believers , whose followers do not have a clergy [1] . Arose at the end of the 17th century , after the death of priests of the “old” ordination, that is, those placed in the Russian Church before the church reform of Patriarch Nikon (mid- 17th century ), the need for the priesthood to save the soul is denied.

The History and Features of the Creed

Old Believers who call themselves: Old Orthodox Christians who don’t accept the priesthood , having completely disappeared from the priests, began to be called bespopovtsy in everyday life. The Russian North - Veliky Novgorod and Pomerania - became the area of origin of lack of interest . In 1694 and 1696, bespopovy councils were held in Novgorod, at which the doctrine of the already completed accession of the Antichrist and the ensuing belief in the interrupted grace of the priesthood and the end of the church hierarchy (the preaching of spiritual antichrist was interpreted as a collection of heresies that penetrated the Russian Church) were held in Novgorod. This led to the disappearance of such church ordinances , performed only by priests, such as communion , anointing , unholy , priesthood and marriage . Baptism and confession began to be performed by elected laity. [1] [2] There is an opinion that lack of faith, thus, has become a peculiar form of the Reformation [3] .

The rejection of the sacrament of marriage, however, was not accepted by a large enough part of the supporters of other views. On questions of marriage among the bespopovtsev there was a division into accepting and not accepting marriage [4] [5] . It has been argued that everyone should lead a celibate life. At the cathedrals, marriage was completely rejected. The followers of the conciliar decision began to be called celibates , Fedoseyevites - by the name of the most striking preacher and installer of celibacy Theodosius Vasiliev . Theodosievtsy (Fedoseyevtsy) created in 1771 in Moscow a community at the Preobrazhensky cemetery . Also, representatives of the Pomeranian consent, led by the Denisov brothers and the Phillip consent departed from them, who preached self-immolation to save the soul, also adhered to such views initially. The most radical in this matter, as well as in others, is Netova’s agreement . Netovtsy have no temples, services, rites; they call themselves “Spasovtsy” themselves, because they believe only in the Savior .

Another part of the bespopovtsy received the name of marriage . She decided that a lay person could perform the marriage ceremony, and justifiably substantiated this in the writings of Vasily Emelyanov. Such, for example, were the consent of the Aristans , the Aaronic consent . Also, under the influence of the work of Ivan Alekseev (Starodubsky) “On the Secret of Marriage” (1762), the marriage gradually began to be recognized with some other meanings. The peculiarity of his teaching was that marriage can be concluded by the Old Believers and in the Nikonian church. At the moment, marriage is recognized by representatives of the largest Pomeranian consent in Russia and the Baltic states.

Belief about the coming of the kingdom of Antichrist led to the emergence among the bespopovites of a wandering , or runner consent (the so-called runners ). Old Believers of this movement believed that it was necessary to flee, to hide from the kingdom of Antichrist . The wanderers did not have passports ; they rejected military service, oaths, taxes, and some of them also rejected money, which was called cashless.

Most of the bespopovskih consent accepts coming from other faiths at the first order, that is, they again cross, which is why they received the name of bespopovtsy-renegotes. These are the Pomors, Fedoseyevs, Filipovites, wanderers, etc.

The other part does not cross, it is: Chapel consent , masons , Kerzhaks , Novospassovtsy, grandmothers and Netovtsy (singing, singing and negatives), also called non-baptized bespopovtsy.

Other, smaller consents also arose: Lyubushkino consent , Melchizedeks , dark believers , ash consent , island consent , kulugurs , and others

Current status

The largest consent of the Bespopovites is Pomeranian: by the beginning of the 21st century, more than 200 communities in the Russian Federation [6] . The Association of Pomors is the Old Orthodox Pomeranian Church . In Poland, there is a registered Pomeranian Eastern Old Believer church with 4 parishes.

The Fedoseyev consent is represented by the registered Old Orthodox Church of the Old Pomeranian Church of Fedoseevsky Consent and the Russian Council of the Old Orthodox Church of the Catholic Church of the Fedoseevsky Old Pomeranian Accord .

Communities of other consents act autonomously, more often without registration [6] .
