Scientific Medical Society of Anatomists, Histologists and Embryologists - SMSAHE is a Russian public organization of scientists, scientific, scientific and pedagogical workers, doctors, veterinarians and biologists, based on the principles of a voluntary, self-governing, non-profit public association. It was organized on January 30, 1976 as the All-Russian Scientific Society of Anatomists, Histologists and Embryologists in the city of Saratov, at the first constituent conference on the initiative of the famous scientist-anatomist, Professor Sergey Sergeyevich Mikhailov , head of the Department of Normal and Topographic Anatomy of the Moscow State Medical Dental Institute named after N.A. Semashko. Despite the organizational and legal independence, historically and actually SMSAHE is the successor to the All-Russian Scientific Society of Anatomists, Histologists and Embryologists. The name of the company, changes in its charter and re-registration took place in 2003 and in 2018 in connection with changes in the legislation of the Russian Federation on public associations. The current Charter of SMSAHE was approved on May 23, 2019 at the VIII Congress in Voronezh .
The main goal of society is the development and improvement of professional activity, research and practical work in the field of human and animal anatomy, histology, cytology, embryology, morphological anthropology, experimental biology, morphology and related sciences, the implementation of the principles of humanism and bioethics, the development and implementation of new methods of scientific biomedical research, the formation of a public image of anatomical science, as a fundamental, classical biomedical science of form and structure ivyh organisms, introduction into practice and study of the latest achievements of domestic and foreign biomedicine, creation of conditions for realization of charitable and humanitarian activities.
The company operates on the basis of the Charter of SMSAHE in accordance with the current legislation of the Russian Federation and constituent documents. The professional community of anatomists, histologists and embryologists is represented by 45 collective members (departments of SMSAHE) in 44 federal subjects of the 9 federal districts of the Russian Federation based on the institutions of 3 federal departments - the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (32), the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation ( 11) and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (1) . The Scientific Medical Society of Anatomists, Histologists and Embryologists is part of the two most significant international organizations of specialist anatomists - the European Federation of Experimental Morphology (EFEM ) and the International Federation of Associations of Anatomists (IFAA ).
The official printed organ of the company is the peer-reviewed scientific journal Morphological Newsletter , which publishes scientific articles and scientific information materials in Russian and English. The magazine has been published since 1993, with 4 issues per year. The journal is indexed and referenced in more than 30 scientometric, bibliographic and information databases, including VINITI RAS , Russian National Library (NLR) , Russian State Library (RSL) , Central Scientific Medical Library (TsNMB) of the First Moscow State Medical University named after . I. The supreme governing body of society is a congress convened once every five years. In breaks between congresses, the company is managed by the SMSAHE Board, which meets at meetings (plenary meetings), as a rule, at least once a year, and 60 people are members of the SMSAHE board . The operational management of the company is carried out by the Presidium of SMSAHE , which includes the president, three vice-presidents, the chief scientific secretary-treasurer, and members of the presidium of 25 people.
