He studied sculpture with William Benes .
Activities
Known as the creator of life-size sculptures of animals for the gardens of the Crystal Palace in Sydenham [2] . The dinosaur figures that Hawkins created for the first time in the world had a great influence on the image of dinosaurs as an element of popular culture. Illustrated books by Charles Darwin and Richard Owen. In Central Park, New York created the American version of the Crystal Palace - the “Paleozoic Museum”, but in May 1871 the sculptures were destroyed by unknown [3] .
