Biography
She graduated from Fordham University and the University of Pennsylvania . In 1975, she married political commentator and former Jesuit priest (in 1970 she ran his election campaign during elections to the US Senate in Rhode Island in 1970; McLaughlin then lost to Democrat ) . They divorced in 1992.
From 1973 to 1974, she was the press secretary of the Environmental Protection Agency , then she went to work for Union Carbide Chemical Corporation. After being elected president of Ronald Reagan, she returned to the government, worked in the ministries of finance and home affairs . In 1987, McLaughlin was appointed by Reagan to the post of Labor Minister after her predecessor, Bill Brock , headed the election headquarters of presidential candidate Bob Dole (Dole lost the Republican primaries to current Vice President George W. Bush - Senior ).
After leaving the Reagan administration, McLaughlin headed the non-profit organization (1990–1995) and (1996–2000). She was on the Board of Directors of Microsoft Corporation (2000–2006) and the Board of Trustees of the RAND Corporation analytical center (2004–2009). Today, she is also a member of the board of directors of several companies, including Fannie Mae and Kellogg .
During the 2008 presidential election campaign , McLaughlin was one of the delegates of the District of Columbia to John McCain at the Republican convention.
Married to Tom Korologos , a famous lobbyist and former US ambassador to Belgium .
