Rachel Bay Jones ( born Rachel Bay Jones ; born November 8, 1969 , New York , New York , USA ) is an American theater actress and singer. Best known for her role as Heidi Hansen in the musical Dear Evan Hansen , who won her the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 2017 .

Early life
Jones was born in New York , and raised in Boca Raton , Florida . At the age of 19, she returned to New York to take up acting [1] .
Career
The first Broadway role of Jones was the replacement of the main actress in the musical "Meet Me in St. Louis" [1] . In 2009, she took part in the revival of the production of “ Hair ”. Has become part of the original cast of the Pippin production (Catherine).
Jones played the mother of the main character, Heidi Hansen, in the musical “ Dear Evan Hansen ” during the world premiere of the musical in Washington in July 2015 [2] , and then continued in off-Broadway and Broadway productions. For the role she was awarded the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role [3] .
