He graduated from the Paris Conservatory (1889), a student of Georges Matiah and Charles Wilfrid de Berio . In the same year, he debuted with the Colonna Orchestra .
Since 1893, he lived and worked in the United States for at least two decades. He made his debut as a pianist in the New York production of Andre Wormser ’s ballet “The Prodigal Son”. In 1894 he took part in a large American tour of a group of famous artists, which included Eugene Isai , Henri Marto , Jean Gerardi and Max Bendix ; in 1897, accompanied on a tour by Achille Rivard . In 1894, Lash made his New York debut as a ballet composer. In 1896, he led a music school in Utica .
