She was the sister of Henry I the Generous , Thibault V de Blois , Guillaume White Hands , Etienne de Sancerre , Agnes de Blois, Countess de Bar and Marie de Blois, Duchess of Burgundy.

November 13, 1160 in Paris was married to Louis VII , king of France, who had recently become a widow after the death of Constance of Castile . She gave birth to Louis the long-awaited heir, the future Philip II Augustus , as well as daughter Agnes .

During the life of her husband, she played a prominent role in the political life of France. She helped nominate her brothers Heinrich the Generous , Count of Champagne, and Thibault V , Count of Blois, as well as the younger brother of Guillaume , nicknamed White Hands, who received the main department in France - the Reims Archbishopric.

She married two elder daughters of Louis VII from Alienora of Aquitaine to her two brothers, Count Henry I the Generous Champagne and Count Thibault V de Blois .

Philip Augustus, having come to power in 1180, removed his mother from government. However, in 1190, at the time of her son’s participation in the third crusade , Adele Champagne was appointed regent of France. In 1192, upon the return of the king, Queen Adele resigned as regent and again went into the shadows. At this time, she is in charge of founding abbeys, including the Abbey of Heat.

Queen Adele died on June 4, 1206 and was buried in the church of the abbey of Pontigny , near Auxerre .
