Joshua Lewis Matavesi ( born October 5, 1990 ) is a Fijian Rugby player of Anglo-Cornish descent, playing for the Newcastle Falcons team and Fiji.

Biography
Family
Father - Sireli Matavesi , Fijian rugby player, native of Vanua Balavu (Lau Islands). In 1987, during a tour with the Fiji Barbarians Club, he met his future wife, Karen, the Cornwall, mother of Joshua. Joshua himself calls himself a Cornish Fijian, not an Englishman [1] . The family also has brothers Sam and Joel, also rugby players.
Club career
Josh began his career at Mounts Bay, playing in the Second National Rugby Division. He played for Truro College and for Exeter United. In August 2009 he moved to the Exeter Chiefs club [2] , made his debut in the match against Sale Sharks in the fullback position [3] . In 2010, he moved to Racing Metro 92, where he was supposed to be replaced in case of injury to Juan Martin Hernandez . The debut took place in April 2011 against Agen . In 2012 he moved to Worcester Warriors, on January 31, 2014 he signed a contract with Ospreyz, and since the 2017/2018 season he has been playing for Newcastle Falcons [4] .
Team Career
In December 2008, Matavesi was called up to the England youth team (under 20) to prepare for the Six Nations Cup [5] , but he chose to play for the Fiji national team. He played for the team at the World Youth Championship in Argentina in June 2010.
In November 2009, Matavesi was called up to the Fiji national team for test matches against Scotland , Ireland and Romania instead of Kamela Ratuvou [6] . He made his debut in the match against Scotland, leaving the starting lineup at the fullback position and leaving the field in the second half of the match [7] . In the game against Ireland, he replaced Norman Ligairi instead of fullback; in the game against Romania, he became a fly-haw after Nikki Little left the national team [8] . In the game against Romania, Matavesi scored 9 points, having also successfully completed three out of four sales, and the Fiji team won with a score of 29:18 [9] .
As part of the Fiji team, Josh participated in test matches in Europe at the end of 2010, and in 2015 was included in the application for the World Cup. He replaced the games against Wales and Uruguay .
