Biography
Childhood
Yuri Nyrkov was born into the family of the superintendent Alexander Alekseevich Nyrkov (1894-1964) and the housewife Elsa Petrovna Nyrkova (1894-1968) on June 29, 1924 in the city of Vyshny Volochyok, Tver province . Yuri became the second child in the family, his sister Margarita Alexandrovna Nyrkova (1922-1998) was two years older.
In 1928, the Nyrkovs moved to Chapaevsk in the Middle Volga region , later they moved to the village of Putilovo , located in the Pushkin district of the Moscow region . Until 1936, Alexander Nyrkov worked as a foreman on the construction of the Sofrinsky polygon .
In 1936, Yuri was accepted into the children's team of pioneers , speaking at that time at the Dynamo stadium . Nyrkov took part in the first international match against a team of children evacuated from Spain due to the outbreak of the Civil War . Yuri's team won, for victory over the Spaniards, People's Commissar of Finance of the USSR Vlas Chubar awarded each footballer who took part in this game a pocket watch with a memorable engraving. During World War II
June 22, 1941 began the Great Patriotic War . Already 8 days after the outbreak of the war, on June 30 , Yuri Nyrkov was sent on a Komsomol ticket to build defensive structures near the city of Vyazma . In October, Yuri returned to Moscow and immediately received a new direction to the city of Karachev, Bryansk region , later, due to the Germans attacking Moscow, he was transferred to the vicinity of the city of Bogorodetsk , which is located near Tula . Then he participated in the construction of defensive structures on the Sura River. In 1942 he was drafted into the army and sent to study at the Tambov Artillery Technical School .
After graduating from college in May 1943, Yuri Nyrkov received the rank of junior lieutenant and was sent to the self-propelled artillery regiment, formed in the city of Ivanteyevka, Moscow Region, with which he was subsequently sent to the Kalinin Front . There he commanded a platoon delivering ammunition for self-propelled artillery. The regiment was part of the Reserve of the Supreme High Command and served to strengthen the advancing troops. Yuri served in the most dangerous places of the front. In heavy battles, its part suffered heavy losses.
Nyrkov participated in the Korsun-Shevchenkovsky operation . After the reformation, the regiment participated in the liberation of Poland, reaching the city of Stettin . From there, the regiment was transferred to the south, to the city of Küstrin to prepare for a breakthrough of the front and an attack on Berlin .
In January 1945, Yuri Nyrkov as part of the regiment participated in an operation in the Kustrin area, in which the territory occupied by German troops was illuminated by many powerful searchlights. After this operation, the regiment with battles approached Berlin . Yuri ended the war on May 11, 1945 on Spandau Allee in central Berlin with the rank of junior lieutenant .
Football career
Club career
After the war, Yuri Nyrkov, on the orders of his commander, became the head of the sports unit of his unit. The team in which Nyrkov played won the competition of the division, corps and, finally, the army. In 1946, his team won the GSOVG Cup .
In 1946, the main composition of the CDKA team came to the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany and held several friendly matches. After one of the matches, in which Nyrkov took part, Anatoly Tarasov approached him and offered to go to the Central House of Artists. Nyrkov for a long time refused the transition, however, an order was received to second him to the team. Despite his illness, he was sent to Moscow by his first plane. On May 9, 1947, he landed at Bykovo Airport.
At first, Nyrkov was in favor of the backup team of the CDAA, his team took first place, but in the match against Dynamo Kyiv, he received a serious knee injury, which he healed in Feodosia .
In the 1948 season , Yuri became a player in the main squad. Together with the team, he won the championship and the USSR Cup , but due to a cold, he got a kidney complication, so in the winter of 1949 he was treated at the Burdenko hospital, and then, on a trip to the Ministry of Defense in the Turkmen town of Bayram Ali .
Nyrkov played for CDKA until August 1952 , was the team's vice-captain. In the summer, as part of the Olympic team of the USSR, he took part in the XV Olympic Games held in Finland . After their graduation, the CDSA team was disbanded, the reason for this was the defeat of the Yugoslav national team .
After the dissolution of the CDSA, Nyrkov played in the team of Kalinin . After the revival of the CDSA in 1954, he began to play again in this team.
In 1958 he was awarded the title of judge of the republican category.
National Team
For the USSR national team debuted on July 15, 1952 at the Olympic Games in Finland against the Bulgarian national team . Total spent three matches for the national team.
Military Service
In the fall of 1953, Yuri Nyrkov graduated from a football career and entered the Academy of Armored Forces, in 1956 he graduated from the academy with the rank of major , until 1964 he was in various command posts in the Personnel Directorate of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany .
He was later transferred to Moscow , where he took the post of deputy head of the personnel department of the Academy of the General Staff , where he worked from 1965 to 1980 . In 1980 he was promoted to major general. Until October 1989, he was head of the personnel department of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the USSR . Later he worked as chairman of the Football Federation of the RSFSR and at the same time was deputy chairman of the Football Federation of the USSR (1990-1991). After the collapse of the Soviet Union, he became chairman of the RFU Veterans Committee (1992-1997), and in 1994-2005, he was president of the Army Football Veterans Fund named after Grigory Fedotov. He died on December 20, 2005, was buried in Moscow.
