Formerly known as Barambah , the city was founded as an Aboriginal settlement in the early 1900s as part of the Queensland government segregation policy.
According to the 2006 census, the population of Cherbourg was 1,128 people. [one]
The city is located off the Bunya Highway , about 250 kilometers northwest of Brisbane and 6 kilometers from the city of Murgon . Located near the dam Bjelke-Petersen Dam .
Tracy Moffat was born here - an Australian photographer, director of documentary and feature films.
